About Apicectomy
An Apicectomy is performed when a root canal procedure isn’t enough to save the tooth. The Root of the tooth is removed and the rest of your tooth is left in place. This is done in minor oral surgery setting and can be performed on children and adults. A small incision will be made in the gum tissue above the tooth, this removes the tip of the root and any infected tissue in the surrounding area. A small filling is placed to fill the root of the tooth, stitches are then placed to help heal the tissue.
