At Abbey Dental we typically only recommend extractions as a last-resort option, when nothing can be done to preserve the natural tooth. A surgical procedure is more complicated due to the dentist removing gum, tissue and bone to extract the tooth. Surgical extractions are done in a minor oral surgery setting. The surgical procedure will require stitches, this will allow the tooth to properly heal. In cases where the tooth is close to the nerve, we would refer you off to nobles’ hospital to have the tooth extracted.
